About Mar de Jade
Mar de Jade was founded almost 35 years ago by Dr. Laura del Valle in the spirit of service. Proceeds from the center go to support local programs for children and teens as well as a 17-acre organic ranch, trade school, and non-profit Montessori-Waldorf inspired school in Chacala. Laura's daughter, Angelica, and son-in-law, Jorge, now handle daily operations. Their radical hospitality conjures home away from home year after year, and it is a joy to support their fine work, and introduce new people to them. |
RACHELLE LAMB
Author, workshop presenter and communication coach, Rachelle Lamb specializes in conflict resolution and breakthrough conversations. Her lifelong interest in human development, relationship dynamics and the roles that culture and ecology play in people's lives, along with her ability to skillfully pave the way for transformational dialogue between people consistently produces powerful learning experiences for individuals and audiences. Recognized as a speaker, writer, poet, teacher, Nonviolent Communication℠ trainer and “relationship whisperer”, Rachelle brings an earthy, practical yet innovative wisdom earned over decades of studying language, relationships, conflict and power through the lenses of Nonviolent Communication℠, leadership, cultural anthropology, spirituality, mythology, poetry, storytelling, deep ecology and social change. Grateful to many teachers throughout her life for their influence, Rachelle attributes her most profound learning to Dr. Marshall Rosenberg and Stephen Jenkinson. She met best selling author and international peacemaker Dr. Marshall Rosenberg in 2000. Rosenberg’s approach to communication was so revolutionary and powerful that she trained with him and was certified in 2002 by the Center for Nonviolent Communication. In 2010, Rachelle met Stephen Jenkinson, subject of the NFB documentary film Griefwalker. Jenkinson's work with the dying and his courageous and provocative views on the making of healthy human culture struck a deep chord. She continues to study with him and is a scholar of his Orphan Wisdom School based in Ontario. |
MARGIE WEAVER
After more than two decades of professional acting and university teaching, Margie took her first yoga class in 2000 and wondered why all artists weren't learning these powerful practices that so immediately cultivate connection, depth, discipline, strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, kinesthetic awareness, and breath--sane practices for insane times. She soon began teaching yoga full-time, in a variety of settings with diverse populations, and helped found and manage a non-profit yoga studio, as well as the nation's first sauna cooperative in Minneapolis. In 2011, she began studying in Stephen Jenkinson's Orphan Wisdom School, which deepened and broadened her approaches to maintaining vibrant whole health and well-being for all life. As a practitioner, song leader, and handwork artist, Margie is beloved by participants for her calm, nurturing nature, and playful curiosity. Whether honing the human skills of grief and gratitude for the gift of life and all that we're on the receiving end of, through voice and music, breath and movement, food and handwork, and our kinship with the world, these troubled times call for sane practices, so that we might proceed knowing that everything matters, and that our health is entwined with the health of the whole world--seen and unseen. Margie recently relocated to three rural acres on Washington's Olympic Peninsula after 31 years in urban Minneapolis. She has been co-leading groups to Mar de Jade since 2011, and is honored and excited to collaborate with her dear friend, Rachelle. |
